The Flexibility of the FIU MBA Program

Florida resident Gilbert Rincon, an experienced administrator, CEO, and government contract manager, received his education from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami. Gilbert Rincon earned both his undergraduate degree in management and marketing and his MBA at FIU.

The FIU MBA program offers a range of options, depending on how advanced students are in their careers and what fields they work in. For learners who prefer a traditional face-to-face program, it offers a two-year flex program as well as 16-month downtown and weekend programs. It also offers an accelerated online program, which covers the same curriculum and is accredited by the same organizations.

For students whose executive careers have already begun in earnest, FIU offers its executive, healthcare, and international MBA programs. The executive program, which requires eight years of experience prior to entry, lasts 22 months, is delivered as a hybrid with both online and face-to-face classes, and provides courses designed to improve leadership, strategy development, and creativity. The healthcare MBA program, offered exclusively through the downtown Miami and Modesto A. Maidique campus, focuses on the unique roles of executives in the healthcare industry. The international MBA, the shortest program available at just 12 months, includes weekday classes as well as internship and study-abroad opportunities.

Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program

A Florida-based operations executive with a background in finance, Gilbert Rincon possesses nearly three decades of organizational leadership experience. Most recently, Gilbert Rincon served as chief executive officer at the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County in Lakeland, Florida

In its mission to provide young children with the skills needed to attain academic success, the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County implements various early education and care initiatives serving upwards of 9,000 children monthly. Since 2005, the Coalition has also been charged with ensuring the effective delivery of Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (VPK) within Polk County.

Approved by a 2002 constitutional amendment, VPK is a free early-learning program that provides 4- and 5-year-old children in the state of Florida with the foundation they need to be ready for school. The structured program focuses on developing early language, reading, and writing skills. VPK also emphasizes accountability and socialization.

Parents in Florida can select from several VPK programs, including those held during the school year, over the summer, and outside a traditional classroom setting. Since the first students began enrolling in VPK in 2005, over 4 million children have benefitted from the program. Today, nearly 80 percent of 4-year-old children in Florida attend VPK.
